The Divisions of General Practice Program is an integral component of the Commonwealth Government’s General Practice strategy. The strategy has resulted in greater involvement of general practitioners in the development of health policy, the planning and delivery of health services at the local and regional level and the management of a range of health service delivery projects. As part of this program the role of Rockingham Kwinana Division of General Practice is to provide support, advocate and coordinate regional primary health activities for its membership of 22 general practices. Located on the southern, urban fringe of metropolitan Perth the Division boundaries include a mixture of outer metropolitan suburban and industrial areas, one of the biggest naval bases in Australia and over 34 kilometres of coastline.
